Yevgenia Belorusets is an artist and writer who lives and works in Kiev and Berlin.

She is the founder of “Prostory” since 2008, the journal for literature, art and politics, and has been a member of the curatorial group "Hudrada" since 2009. 

She works with photography and video on the intersection of art, literature, journalism and social activism. She has taken part in a number of Ukrainian and international exhibitions in the context of social critique and socially engaged art.

Her project Gogol Street 32 was carried out over a number of years and consists of research into the everyday life of people living in government-owned communal housing in a state of continuing dilapidation. Her recent work "Victories of the defeated" 2014 - 2016 is devoted to post-industrial Ukraine, to work in coal mines on the edge of the war zone, to contemporary forms of labour in a period of military conflict in Donbas.

She is participating in a number of social initiatives, including the art workers' self-protection initiative, Creative union of authors and translators.
